Photos of the new babies!!!

The above picture was taken yesterday morning.  I was headed out with my coffee to prepare truck for picking up the meat.  Obviously I was the one late for breakfast!

These two pictures are of the new little Gelbvieh/Shorthorn bull.  I need steers to butcher but I may keep him for breeding purposes.  He was quite large compared to the other calves born so far.  I estimated him to be about 105#'s.  He was born during the early morning hours and I noticed his mother wasn't at the feeder and went looking.  I found them chilling out on the other side of the creek.

These two pics are of Chilli's calf.  These were taken shortly after she was born.  I had just gotten home from work and I noticed she was not at the feeder with everyone else.  So the whole family piled in the tractor and went over to the other side of the creek where they like to have their calves at and there she was.  She had just finished cleaning it up and it was trying to stand.  This one is an Angus/shorthorn cross and is all black.  Her half sister, Koyuki's calf,  is the same cross but instead of being all black she has a black base coat with a bronze over coat! Both are very cute!
I finished up all my second cutting here and on the rental field.  Before I got it all baled Steven square baled a section for me to use for pig feed.  Lisa and I went over to their place to get it out of the barn and brought it home and stacked it in the pig loft.  She was enjoying the soft ride back home!
Friday night after getting home from work I was headed out to check the pigs and cattle and saw something on the top of the old cherry tree stump in the pig lot.
As I got closer I realized the pigs were playing king of the mountain on the stump while snacking on the weeds and such growing there.
At one point there were four piglets on top and one more trying to get on.

Everything is going well here so far this year.  I am enjoying the summer and hope it is a long one.  I HATE THE COLD!

The baby calves do not have names yet so if anyone would like to offer up one just leave them in the comments section!

Also, I kept 14 of the 23 piglets to finish out for freezer meat.  I have already sold 6 of them so if anyone is interested please contact me and get your half or whole reserved now.  They are going fast and it is first come first served.  I am expecting them to be ready in January but I will feed them longer if we need to to get them to the weight they need to be.

Hope all is well with everyone!!

Kenny
